My Design Approach
I'm currently doing a lot of silver stamping with designs and words, and silver shaping of pendants and earrings.
Also I've learned to fuse pure silver into pendants, rings and earrings, and have been having fun using these items with my beaded jewelry. I'm using more copper and bronze in my designs as well.
I love the natural gemstones and am always searching for great beads. I also buy my handmade lampwork beads from a great glass artist outside Kansas City, and I have numerous suppliers that I buy gemstones from. I'm always looking for something unique and different to use in my jewelry, and my passion is creating something special.
All of my jewelry is made with sterling silver or fine silver ( which is a pure silver) Fine silver doesn't tarnish like sterling, because sterling has copper added to it for strength. I like working with fine silver and am partial to the whiter look of it over the greyer sterling. Anytime I use gold, it is 14kt. gold filled or occasionally I'll use something that is just 14 kt. gold.
All the pearls I use are freshwater pearls. The natural colors are either a peachy/pink color or a lavender . White pearls are bleached and all the other colors are dyed. That is true of all freshwater pearls on the market today. The same care has to be given to all pearls to avoid perfumes, makeup, hairspray, etc. If dirty, clean with a clean cotton cloth moistened with warm water & a few drops of dish soap, and dry with a clean cloth.
I always try to get the nicest gemstones I can find; rarely do I use any dyed stones. However there are beginning to be a lot of really nice color-fast dyed stones on the market. If I know something is dyed it will be labeled; sometimes it is just hard to tell.
If you want to order something you saw on the website that has sold, please send me an email or give me a call. I'm not planning to duplicate anything exactly but I can usually make something similar. For example, I can make most of the earring styles shown in about any gemstone someone would want to order or any color combination. Please be aware that everything that I make using precious and semi-precious gemstones is one of a kind, if for no other reason than the nature of the materials I use.
I offer free adjustments and repairs on all my jewelry and you may exchange a piece within 10 days of purchase. Since all items vary in cost, due to the difference in expense of materials, I will quote you on each special order when it is placed.
